Jobs: If you haven’t heard of this one then you need to check it out. I use this on an almost daily basis to keep track of all kinds of stuff that I’m spending my time on. If you are freelancing then I’d say this one is a no-brainer and a must have. You can create multiple clients and track multiple jobs to each client. Edit time stamps if you forget to start a timer, or even go in and add one later if you were away from your iPhone while working. Export data via email to yourself for entry into invoicing software later. Very intuitive and easy to use.

Twitterific: Great app for interface with twitter while on the go. Manage multiple accounts, search Twitter quickly, filter tweets and much more. It has a very nice looking interface and is really easy to use. Not quite as advanced as others like tweetdeck or tweetie but gets the job done.

Oblique Strategies: Oblique Strategies is a super cool deck of cards created by Brian Eno and Peter Schmidt first published in 1975, and now in its fifth edition. Each card lists a phrase or cryptic remark which can be used to break a deadlock or dilemma situation. These cards are amazing for brainstorming through creative-type-situations where you’re stuck and need a solution. You draw a card and follow the strategy blindly by applying it to your problem or situation. Double tapping the cards will quickly show the next card in the deck. The deck is shuffled when the last card is drawn or when you select an edition from the preferences, there are 5 sets included. Highly recommend this one.

Font Shuffle: Type inspiration at your fingertips. Hundreds of font families are sorted by visual similarity into a visual family tree. Without any previous knowledge about typography, and using only visual criteria, you can easily navigate directly to 6 font designs of similar style by tapping your iPhone twice. You can do this without knowing the name or style category of the desired font, but can learn these by playing around with the application. Shake the results list to throw new alternatives into the mix. Display your favorite fonts as a sample text, or test them using your own words. Turn the screen to have a look at the glyph chart.

Dictionary: This app delivers world-class content. Includes both a dictionary from Dictionary.com and a thesaurus from Thesaurus.com including more than 275,000 definitions and 80,000 synonyms. No Internet connection needed. This app also features audio pronunciations, similarly spelled words and Dictionary.com’s popular Word of the Day. I use this app all the time to do word associations for logos or ad campaigns or to just look up definitions to words. Increase your vocabulary and always be in the know on words in articles or books that are unfamiliar, just look them up with a flick of your finger! Another must have if you are a Designer.

AP Mobile: Stay in the know, now. This app pulls stuff down even before it ends up on the nightly news. I stopped watching TV to get info and just use this app now. Helps you keep up-to-date with what’s happening anywhere, in your hometown and across the globe. Personalize your news to meet your needs. Choose from entertainment, sports, election coverage and finance – all the news is at your fingertips.  Select local news from your trusted local newspapers and broadcasters and combine it with the best of the AP’s videos, photo galleries, and national and international coverage. Awesome.

All Things Digital: Co-edited by Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher, All Things Digital is devoted to news, analysis and opinions on technology, the Internet and media. The name pretty much sums it up here. Great source of industry info. If you’re into tech, design, computers, whatever, this is a great app.

MarketingProfs: For the business side of creativity. Home to thousands of marketing articles, case studies, and the like. Business professionals rely on MarketingProfs.com to keep them up to date on marketing best practices, so why shouldn’t you? Stuck in line or on hold? Use that time to breeze through the latest marketing digests and articles. The posts on this app are easy, quick reads that only take minutes. Great for purusing while having your morning coffee, on the go, or standing still. Lots of useful info here.

Kern: A minimalist typography experience challenging you to precisely place a missing letter into a falling word while avoiding any unnecessary ligatures! Practice and prove your typographical skills. This is a really fun game app and if you’re a typofile, you’ll absolutely love it. Great way to pass the time! It’s also very addicting.

Type Drawing: Very simple concept. Drawing with letters! Start by typing a sentence, choose your font, and then just draw. This simple action leads you to make really neat typography artworks and wallpapers that you can then export. I’m looking at doing a blog down the road just on examples of artworks that I’ve created using this app. Really fun!

Apple Remote: OK not really a stand alone app, but couple this with an Airport Express module and a high-fi stereo receiver in your living room, or any room for that matter, and you’ve got a really powerful wireless remote that you can use to browse your entire iTunes library, play your favorite tracks with a touch of your finger and even controll the volume! I’ve been using this for all my music needs at home. My entire music collection resides on iTunes but my computer is in a different room than my stereo. No problem. Now if I could just figure out how to make it get me beers and pizza from the fridge.
